Assessment for year 2023

This year has been a turning point in tomato cultivation in Spain. The rugose virus (ToBRFV) is gradually changing the predominant varieties.

At Unigen Seeds Spain we have started testing our new resistant hybrids with promising results. Additionally, we are promoting our new tomato specialities where other features such as flavour are decisive.

We have consolidated the tomato varieties Sukapink, Kokoro, Prince Noir, Bakara and Piktorum. Furthermore, new tasty tomatoes are being added to our next season portfolio: Sanremo, Atomic, Dark…

Although our tomato breeding program in Spain is very young, the steps we are taking are in the right direction.

Regarding pepper, 2023-2024 has been the sixth consecutive season since Unigen, member of Kagome, started the Blocky and Half-Long breeding programs in Spain.

The efforts and hard work of a good team are starting to pay off in varieties such as EfeKtivo and a rich pre-commercial pipeline for the main international markets.

Looking forward to seeing what 2024 will bring!
