Variety AKPRIM is a watermelon rootstock owning to Citrullus genus, particularly related to watermelon growing, improving the brix and flavor of the watermelon compared to the usual pumpkin rootstocks.
In the nursery it shows a very fast and uniform germination, short and strong hypocotyl with a similar dimater to the graft, which facilitates speed and operation when grafting. It allows the sowing of the graft and rootstock at the same time.
In the field: very strong and vigorous root system with good behaviour against Nematodes. It ensures high and continuous production.

Conditions to achieve optimum germination and uniformity in the nursery: Temperature 24-26 ºC. Germination in 3-4 days. Plant ready to graft in 12-15 days. Hypocotyl length 15 mm, hypocotyl diameter 3.5 mm. High affinity and ease of grafting after 2 days of incubation.
